Did you know that, after cooking, a Panettone has to cool upside-down to preserve its unique softness? That is why by this time of the year traditional bakeries around Italy are filled with rows and rows of upside-down Panettoni, waiting to be wrapped in colorful papers.
As usual, we are getting ready as well with a great selection of Panettone and Pandoro, making sure they will be shipped in time to reach you wherever you are celebrating your Holidays in full Italian style!
This year we want to do something special and tried two original recipes to enjoy the classic Italian cakes with an innovative twist: all the ingredients are super simple but the results are unexpected and delicious!
Panettone Cake
For this cake you will need:
Your favorite traditional Panettone
800 gr of Custard Cream
60 gr of Orage Jam
60 gr of Dark Chocolate
First, get your Custard cream ready. Cut the panettone in horizontal slices and use it to create a thin base inside a cake stamp lined with baking paper. Cut the rest of the panettone in small cubes and mix them with the cream, then pour it on the panettone base. With a spoon decorate the top of the cake with the Orange jam. Chop the chocolate into small drops and sprinkle them on the cake. If you want, you can also add some sugar on top to create an extra crispy layer.
Bake the panettone Cake at 200° C for 30 minutes and let it cool before serving it!
All the ingredients you will need:
Pandoro-misù
This has quickly become one of our favorite desserts of all time! For this holiday-inspired Tiramisù you will need:
Your favorite traditional Pandoro
As much Italian coffee as you like
For the cream:
500 gr of Mascarpone Cheese
4 fresh eggs (only the yolk)
100 gr of sugar
Make the coffee first: you will need it to cool down completely before adding it to the Pandoro! Cut the Pandoro horizontally to create 4 star-shaped layers, set it aside and mix the eggs yolks with the sugar until the sugar is completely melted. Then add the Mascarpone cheese and keep mixing to get a soft cream. Soften the first layer of the pandoro with some coffee to add flavor. Pandoro is a super soft sponge cake so be careful not to add too much coffee! Add the mascarpone cream and sprinkle with some cocoa powder or chocolate chips for extra taste! Put the second layer on the first one and repeat the process to create your delicious Pandoromisù!
Everything you need (minus the fresh ingredients: eggs and Mascarpone cheese)
