Next November 28th we will celebrate our sixth Thanksgiving in the United States and I have been thinking about how this day means a lot to me and my family even if we only moved back here in the United States in 2014.

As I told in the About Us section of this site, I was born here and I spent my first years in the Italian Delicatessen that my parents used to run in the Bronx.

When I was still little we moved back to Italy and I grew up in a small village in the south where we opened a little typical Italian restaurant after restyling an old house in our old town center.

It is there that I learned from my mum the importance of the traditional recipes. But owning a restaurant also meant that we had to be creative to add something new to the menu every once in a while!

When I moved back to the States with my family I brought with me my passion for cooking and the creativity in the kitchen that I learned from my mom.

Thanksgiving soon became one of my favorite celebrations: I believe that it is really important to stop and think about all the precious things we have in our lives and for which we are thankful.

I also believe that respecting traditions is important and food is a great part of any culture: so on thanksgiving, we eat turkey!

Last year my sons helped me pick the perfect turkey and I came up with an original recipe for a special “Italian stuffing”.

This year maybe I will experiment with a new recipe but I know we will have a turkey on our table and a Panettone for dessert to make everyone happy!

Each family has different traditions and I am really happy and grateful to be able to incorporate both the Italian and the American ones in my family!

Whatever your secret recipe is, I hope you will enjoy the coming holidays with your loved ones sharing delicious food!
