An afternoon spent with my nephews from the US inspired me to dig up this delicious recipe for the best traditional cookies!

These cookies are a memory from my childhood... Our grandma Maria used to make them, flooding the house with a delicious scent. I loved sprinkling the dough with colored sprinkles!

Today I wanted to try and make this recipe with my nephews: Giacomo, Sara and Christian... they were excellent helpers!

As usual with these traditional recipes, the ingredients are super simple and genuine, but the result is surprisingly special:

Mix the eggs with the sugar, add the oil and lemon peel. Mix for a while and slowly add the flour, vanilla and Baking powder.

Create some "loaves" on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper - The size is to taste: they should not be too big!

Sprinkle each loaf with sugared almonds or chocolate chips and bake them in a static oven at 180° for about 10 minutes, until golden.

While they are still hot and just out of the oven cut each loaf into 2 cm thick strips. Grandma's cookies are ready!

They are perfect for soaking in cold milk or with a delicious coffee!
